Pope Francis Discharged from Hospital After Nine Days Following Surgery; Surgeon Reports Improvement

After nine days in the hospital, Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church was released with a clean bill of health yesterday.

The good news comes after Francis underwent an undisclosed surgery earlier this month. Cardinal Giorgio Salvadore, the surgeon who operated on the high-ranking church leader, reported that the pope had made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon.

“We are very happy to report that the surgery was a success,” Salvadore said. “The pope has responded well to the procedure and is on the road to recovery.”

The church, which usually relies on prayers for healing, was forced to admit that modern medicine might be the new touch of god.

“We are grateful to the doctors and nurses who took such good care of the beloved leader of our church,” said Monsignor Rosario La Torre, a spokesperson for the Vatican. “We know that the prayers of the faithful were heard, but we also recognize the importance of modern medicine.”

The news of the pope’s recovery has been welcomed by Catholics around the world, who had been praying for his health.

“I am so relieved to hear that the pope is doing better,” said Maria Santini, a parishioner from Rome. “It is a great comfort to know that he is in good hands and on the way to recovery.”

The pope is expected to take some time off to rest before returning to his duties as the leader of the Catholic Church. The Vatican has not disclosed the nature of the surgery or the pope’s medical condition.

“We ask for continued prayers for the pope’s health and recovery,” La Torre said. “We are confident that he will be back to his usual self in no time.”
